Sir Arthur (Ignatius) Conan Doyle was a Scottish writer and physician. In 1887 he wrote A Study in Scarlet, which launched the legend of Sherlock Holmes. In total, Doyle wrote four novels and 56 short stories around the fictional British detective.
In The Hound of Baskervilles, Holmes says a rather bitchy remark to his partner Watson.
“It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but that you are a conductor of light. Some people without possessing genius have a remarkable power of stimulating it.”
Even if Sherlock Holmes was a bit of a jerk, we still think this quote is a nice reminder that we all have the power to light the way through dark times.
